It is 1938 and Mariette is a defiant, strong willed and selfish 17 yr old. Samenvatting

Als het nog niet opgevallen was, ik hou van de boeken van Lesley Pearse. Wat betreft historisch romans is de Belle serie toch wel een van mijn favorieten. Onlangs zag ik dat er een derde boek uitgegeven was en die wou ik toch wel heel graag lezen. Ook al is het verhaal niet meer uit het oogpunt van Belle, het blijft toch geweldig.  

Mariette is de dochter van Belle. Ze is net zo rebels als haar moeder. Ik vind het geweldig om te zien hoe Mariette op haar moeder lijkt. Maar op een moment wordt het Belle en Etienne te veel. Mariette moet naar Londen toe. Naar Noah en Lisette, ja die uit de vorige boeken. Ik stond er ook al van te kijken.

Op de boot naar Engeland valt Mariette als een blok voor Morgan. Ik had er eigenlijk weinig goede gedachten bij. Een man op een schip en dat met Mariette. Het deed me een beetje aan Etienne denken. Eenmaal in Londen aangekomen ziet Mariette Morgan eigenlijk niet meer. Niet dat ik dat erg vind. 

En dan breekt de Tweede Wereldoorlog uit. Wat betekent dat Mariette niet meer naar huis kan. Ik geef toe dat ik Belle en Etienne wel miste. Hoewel ik het wel leuk vind om Mariette beter te leren kennen. Het is leuk om te zien hoe de 'oudere' personages uit de vorige boeken samen gaan met de 'nieuwere' uit dit boek. 

Als je fan bent van historische romans en je nog niks van Lesley Pearse gelezen hebt dan moet je dat toch wel gaan doen. Ongeveer twee jaar geleden begon ik met Belle. En zoals je kunt zien ben ik nog steeds een enorme fan.
